Poem #7 Summer Storm
Summer Storm
The storm has passed
And the rain has stopped.
The oven-fresh earth
Smells most delectable –
I eat up airy mouthfuls of it!

Poem #6 Train
Train
The furious monster
Dashes relentlessly
Into the tunnel.
It bellows
As it is swallowed
By the mouth of the earth,
Slipping into
The depths –
The bowels –
The hell –
Where it belongs.

Poem #5 Rubbish Bin
Rubbish Bin
An exasperated
Rubbish bin
Spews forth
A gluttony
Of unwanted oddments –
Fouling
The pristine
Manicured
Lawn.

Poem #4 Drought
Drought
When will it rain?
The farmer’s cry.
Drought.
When will it rain?
Will it ever?
Never?
Cracked parched earth,
Animals die,
Rot.
Birds are songless, most
Long gone like the
Grass.
Black thunder clouds gather
Lining the horizon –
Rain?
Each heart prays and
Aches for rain –
Now?
Clouds loom, dark, foreboding,
Gigantic masses of
Promise.
Lightning flashes, thunder rolls.
Clouds pass – dry
Storm.
Broken, weary, hopeless.
Downcast we
Wait.
