Originally the idea came from the magazine The Writers Digest (see my links page for web site). They are essentially writing exercises limited to 55 words or less. I always try to have an unexpected twist in the tail and some humour but I'm not always successful. I have been delighted to have had a few of them published too. And several of them took on an extended life of their own and became fully fledged short stories in their own right (or should that be "their own write"?) One has recently been accepted for publication. I intend writing more and publishing them on this blog once a week. I have already posted another four that are waiting to appear on this blog every Sunday over the rest of the month. I am also setting up posts of poetry to appear every weekend as well. Read - and enjoy. And comment too! BTW - 55 Fiction on B5Media has similar stories - I've not submitted anything to them yet.
